The passion for ancient native woods and the enchanting encounter with the tradition and wisdom of aboriginal peoples in the art of pipe smoking are the driving forces that lead the artist to create these visionary art sculptures.
Pedro Ferrizzo resides in the hills of Rocha, Uruguay, 40 kilometers from the oceanic coast, surrounded by a natural and biodynamic environment. The woods used are discovered by the artist in the rivers of Uruguay, with the most common being the scutia buxifolia, also known as coronilla, a native wood whose roots may be over 700 years old.
Since 2002, his creations have traveled the world, reaching the hands of collectors and galleries. The wood carving is done manually, achieving a unique and auric shape. Natural waxes are used for the final curing, and the resulting form is abstract and surreal, mirroring nature itself. Additionally, the smoothness when smoking provides a pleasant and meditative experience.
